Chinney Yeap wins for the second year in a row, AHFA NZ Hairdresser of the Year and Michael Beel wins AHFA Editorial Stylist of the Year, the first NZ’er to do so in the awards history!
The 2024 Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA’s) took to Sydney’s Star Casino at the end of October to celebrate the editorial prowess of our hairdressing community, in an evening where hair, art, entertainment and fashion collided. These awards are the pinnacle of hairdressing excellence in the Southern Hemisphere.
Michael was awarded AHFA Editorial stylist against some very stiff Australasian competition, with his portfolio of campaigns, celebrity work and fashion photoshoots putting him as the winner of this high profile category. His work, according to one of the judges, “had a sense of modernity, effortlessness and beauty thruout his collection!” … we are so honoured to have him at Salute.
Later that evening, for a second year in a row, Chinney Yeap wins the prestigious AHFA NZ Hairdresser of the Year. With her collection inspired by Geishas and referencing artwork from her youth, Chinney’s collection showcased strong silhouettes with striking colour placement… something that has become her signature style and what she has become known for globally! Michael was also a finalist in this category and having 2 people from one salon not only represent but win makes us so very proud!
